The 8,000 years of the rich winemaking history in Georgia is the subject of a six-month exhibition of Ortsmuseum Höngg in Zürich, with the Georgian National Wine Agency promoting the country’s culture in the field via the event.
Davit Tkemaladze, the Deputy Chairman of the Agency, said the exhibition, which opened on Wednesday, was “particularly important” for the promotion of Georgian wine culture and history in Switzerland and Europe.

The exhibits presented at the museum will give the visitors an idea of the environment in which Georgians have been making wine for millennia,” Tkemaladze said.
Revaz Lominadze, Georgia’s Ambassador to Switzerland, said it was “extremely important to position our [Georgian] identity in Europe” by promoting the wine culture and “actively demonstrating that we are an integral part of Europe.”
Vine varieties from the collection plants of the Georgian Scientific-Research Agriculture Centre Jigaura are presented at the Swiss museum venue as part of the display.
