Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili attended the funeral of Madeleine Albright, the former US Secretary of State, on Wednesday in Washington, DC.
US President Joe Biden, former President Bill Clinton, former State Secretary Hillary Clinton and family members of Albright delivered speeches at the funeral, which was held at the Washington Cathedral.
During his speech, Bill Clinton thanked Zourabichvili for attending the funeral.
The President of Georgia is here today, and I’m very grateful for that,” he said.
Zourabichvili paid tribute to Albright by saying she was “one of those historical figures who fought for a democracy we could all be proud of.”
“She believed in the integrity of all the former republics of the Soviet Union.”

Albright, who helped steer Western foreign policy in the aftermath of the Cold War, passed away on March 23 from cancer, at age 84.
