Georgia reports 359 new cases of coronavirus of 13,685 tests

Georgia has reported 359 new cases of coronavirus, 526 recoveries and six deaths in the past 24 hours.
13,685 tests have been conducted around the country on the weekend. 7,795 of the 13,685 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 5,890 were PCR tests.
2.31 per cent of tested individuals had the virus in the past 14 days.
Georgian Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia stated earlier last week that restrictions may be imposed again in the country if more than two per cent of tested individuals test positive for coronavirus in two consecutive weeks.
The country has had 288,755 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020.

277,829 of the 288,755 patients have recovered, while 3,883 have died from the virus.
Currently 7,017 individuals remain infected with Covid-19.
The new 359 cases were recorded in:
- Tbilisi - 202 cases
- Adjara - 46 cases
- Imereti - 19 cases
- Kvemo Kartli - 14 cases
- Shida Kartli - 14 cases
- Guria - 9 cases
- Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 40 cases
- Kakheti - 5 cases
- Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 7 cases
- Samtskhe-Javakheti - 2 cases
- Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 1 case

2,422 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. 380 of the 2,422 patients are in critical condition. 79 of the 380 critical patients are on artificial ventilation.
12,794 individuals are in self-isolation.
More than 3,685,000 tests have been conducted in the country so far.
Georgia has reported 707 new cases of coronavirus, 592 recoveries and eight deaths over the last 24 hours. As of now the number of total confirmed cases of Covid-19 stands at 288,396 in Georgia.This includes 277,303 recoveries, 3,877 deaths and 7,190 active cases of the infection.
A week following Orthodox Easter on May 4-11 has been declared public holiday in Georgia to curb the possible spread of the coronavirus. The interagency commission led by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has also given out the recommendation to employers to move to remote work.

Georgian health officials have warned of a potential third wave of coronavirus in the country if individuals refuse to receive the vaccine and act in line with recommendations.
The Georgian government has imposed several coronavirus restrictions ahead of the Easter holidays which is marked on May 2 this year. According to the government decision municipal transport will not work across Georgia between 3-12 May. Roads to cemeteries will be closed by police during the holiday to prevent assemblies there. Churchgoers will have to obverse coronavirus rules during the Easter liturgy on May 1-2.

The country has had 315,913 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020. 5.33 per cent of tested individuals had Covid-19 in the past 14 days.
