The Residence of the President of Georgia in Tbilisi will be open to the public for two weeks starting December 31 at 6 p.m.
Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili revealed to her social media followers yesterday that the Residence of the President of Georgia, also known as the Orbeliani Palace, will be hosting visitors during the upcoming holiday season.
The yard of the residence has been decorated with Christmas and New Year’s lights. A Georgian Christmas tree known as the chichilaki is on display in the central part of the building.
The Orbeliani Palace will be open for visitors between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily through January 15. Photo: president.gov.ge.
Located on Atoneli Street in the capital, the residence is built on a spot where an 18th century palace, presented by King Teimuraz II of the Bagrationi dynasty to his son-in-law Dimitri Orbeliani, stood before it collapsed in the 19th century due to neglect.
Constructed in the early 20th century, the current building takes its name from the Orbeliani noble family.
