Passenger traffic at Kutaisi Int’l Airport restored by 48%, flights by 65%

The United Airports of Georgia reports that in October 2021 passenger traffic at Kutaisi International Airport was restored by 48% compared to the same period of 2019. In October 2021, Kutaisi International Airport served 42,777 passengers (October 2019 –89,647 passengers).
65% of flights were resumed at Kutaisi International Airport in October 2021 (195 flights). A total of 298 flights were launched in October 2019.
The United Airports of Georgia reports that as of today three airlines are operating direct flights to 22 destinations from Kutaisi International Airport, including four to Kazakhstan and 18 to Europe.
Starting October 31, Hungarian low-cost airline WizzAir has resumed direct flights from Kutaisi to Barcelona, Vienna and Berlin, while starting December 15, regular direct flights will be launched to Abu Dhabi,” said the General Director of the United Airports of Georgia, Tamar Archuadze.
There will be 119 regular flights from Kutaisi International Airport to Europe and 28 regular flights to Asia in November.
Azerbaijani low-cost Buta Airways will start to operate a Baku-Tbilisi-Baku flight three times a week starting in mid-March, Economy Minister Natia Turnava said earlier today. Other low-cost companies which will start operating flights in Georgia from mid-March are Kazakh air carriers Air Astana and FlyArystan.
Regular direct flights from Kutaisi International Airport to Barcelona will resume on October 31, while regular flights to Vienna will resume starting November 2, reports United Airports of Georgia.
International flights will resume in Georgia starting February 1, announces Georgian Economy Minister Natia Turnava, stating that all airline companies that have already operated or plan to enter the country's aviation market in the future will be able to operate regular flights.
Flights between Georgia and Kazakhstan have resumed after a 4-day pause due to civil unrest in Kazakhstan. About 60 Georgian citizens have arrived to Georgia's Kutaisi airport from Kazakhstan's Aktau and Atyrau airports earlier today.
The Hungarian budget airline WizzAir will carry passengers on regular flights from western Georgia’s Kutaisi International Airport to Italy’s capital Rome starting March 28, United Airports of Georgia said on Wednesday.
