British travel magazine Wanderlust has listed Georgia’s capital city Tbilisi among the world’s most desirable short haul destinations.
The winners of the Wanderlust Travel Awards 2021 were chosen by the magazine’s readers, with Tbilisi taking the third place after Lisbon and Seville.
Tbilisi City Mayor Kakha Kaladze said earlier today that receiving such accolades is especially delightful during the pandemic period.
It once again highlights the capital’s diverse touristic products and demonstrates Tbilisi’s city tourism potential to international travellers and tourism professionals, Kaladze added.
The winners in the nomination of the most desirable cities (short haul) are listed as followed:
- Lisbon (Gold)
- Seville (Silver)
- Tbilisi (Bronze)
- Marrakech
- Dubrovnik
- Bologna
- Tallinn
- Salzburg
- Stockholm
- St. Petersburg
Tbilisi has been named as the 2020 Emerging Culture City in the latest Leading Culture Destinations Awards, an "Oscars for Museums", with the Georgian capital emerging among winners from 50 destinations.
Fdi Intelligence, an English-language magazine that provides up-to-date reviews of investment and economic development in different European cities and regions, has put Tbilisi first on the list of its rating of European Cities and Regions of the Future 2020/2021 in the category of cost-effectiveness.
Georgian capital of Tbilisi has become the victor of the recent online voting of Ireland’s low-cost airline Ryanair, as the best travel destination for 2020. The voting was underway at Ryanair’s instagram story where Tbilisi has defeated Rome, Santorini, Paris, Mallorca and finally - Barcelona.
Georgian capital of Tbilisi has been named as the third trendiest destinations for 2020 after Colmar, France and Athens, Greece, on travel website European Best Destinations. More than 600,000 people voted for their favourite destination online between January 15 and February 5.
