Short documentary film 'Grand Tour of Samegrelo' about Georgia's western region of Samegrelo has been listed among the winners of the UN World Tourism Organization's 2021 tourism video competition.
The 3-minute film depicts a young Georgian chef Ia Dzagania travelling and exploring the nature, history, culture, and cuisine of the Samegrelo region.
The film won in the category of 'Promotion and the Decade of Action,' for which the competitors were asked to present how the tourism sector is advancing in their regions.
'Grand Tour of Samegrelo' was produced by Magnet Films in cooperation with the USAID Economic Security Program.
The video competition, launched ahead of the UNWTO General Assembly, aims to recognize visual storytellers on a global scale and celebrate the role of tourism in sustainable development.
Georgian Zurab Pololikashvili has been re-elected Secretary General of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) with 85 votes in favour, 26 against, for a second term from 2022 to 2025.
