MP Ani Tsitlidze from the opposition United National Movement (UNM) party has been escorted by the police out of Zugdidi’s 21st polling station.

The incident reportedly took place after the UNM’s election commission member, two journalists, and an NGO representative got kicked out of the station.

Another UNM representative, Nene Dalakishvili, claims that she was physically assaulted by the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) supporter at Zugdidi’s 26th polling station.

Dalakishvili said that she was trying to film the so-called voting carousels, when she got attacked by the GD supporter.

The ruling party’s majoritarian MP Irakli Chikovani says that he hasn’t seen the incident occur, but if it actually happened, Dalakishvili should report it to the police.

During the day, several confrontations took place at Zugdidi electoral district. GD mayoral candidate Mamuka Tsotseria accused the UNM activists for staging provocations, while the police detained five people following a physical assault near the 20th polling station.

Anzor Melia from the UNM is running against Tsotseria at Zugdidi mayoral elections. At the first round of elections, Melia received 46.88% of the total votes, while Tsotseria got 41.15%.
