Vake Park in Tbilisi to close for renovation works

One of the oldest recreational parks of Tbilisi, Vake Park will be fully closed in a few days due to ongoing renovation works, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said earlier today.

Kaladze said that Vake Park will retain all the elements characteristic of the status of the cultural heritage monument.

The plants that are typical to the park will be restored and the entire area will be adapted to persons with limited physical abilities.

The central fountain, which has not been working for a few decades, and an open-air cinema will also be renovated.

Tbilisi City Hall also plans to set up bicycle lanes inside the park.

There will be a new space for pets, a picnic zone, attractions for children, and table game zones.

The park area will be divided in order to isolate active and passive rest zones from each other.

The renovation works are planned to be completed by the end of 2021.
