Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili on Thursday extended his condolences to the family of the 13-year-old girl who died from injuries sustained in an electrocution incident in Tbilisi’s Vake Park recreational area earlier during the day.
“It's hard to find the words to express the heartache I'm feeling over the tragedy at Vake Park”, Garibashvili said in his statement.
In these most difficult moments, I wholeheartedly share the grief of the family members, relatives and friends of the deceased teenager and express my support to them”, he continued.
The head of the government stressed an investigation into the incident had been launched, adding the causes of the tragedy would be established and the “strictest” response taken.
The death followed the incident reported by local media, in which three minors were injured after attempting to retrieve a ball that had fallen into the recently renovated fountain in the park.
One of the other minors is in critical condition and undergoing treatment under artificial ventilation at the New Hospitals clinic in the city, while the third remains at the Children's Central Hospital in the city with minor injuries.
