Georgian, Azerbaijani PMs pledge to deepen economic ties at inter-gov’t commission session in Baku

Georgian and Azerbaijani Prime Ministers Irakli Garibashvili and Ali Asadov have pledged to deepen their countries’ economic ties at the inter-governmental economic commission session held in Baku earlier today.
PM Garibashvili said Azerbaijan is not only a friend and a neighbour of Georgia, but one of the main strategic partners as well.
It is a great honour for me to be here in Baku in our friend and neighbour country – Azerbaijan, which is very precious for us”, Garibashvili said welcoming the resumption of the commission after ten-year suspension.
Irakli Garibashvili has welcomed the progress that Georgia and Azerbaijan have made in trade and economy, humanitarian and cultural directions.
We have had a great progress in all directions in recent years, but I believe that this potential is even higher and needs to be fully used”, the Georgian PM said.
Azerbaijani PM has thanked his Georgian counterpart for visiting Baku and engaging in the economic commission session.

PM Asadov also noted that relations between the two countries are on high level while their joint energy and transport projects further increase their economic opportunities.
Our countries play an important role in developing the region and ensuring the energy security of Europe”, Asadov said adding that there is even more room for deepening Georgia-Azerbaijani ties in the fields of digital economy, agriculture, healthcare, etc.
Georgian Economy Minister Natia Turnava, who also attended the inter-governmental commission session said the both Georgian and Azerbaijani leaders are ready and willing to deepen their economic ties.
She said at the session the parties spoke of the ways for increasing the trade turnout as well as expanding cooperation in the sphere of energy.
Georgian delegation chaired by PM Garibashvili is visiting Azerbaijan today.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Georgian PM Irakli Garibashvili met in Baku earlier today, during the second official visit of Garibashvili to Azerbaijan this year. After the meeting Aliyev said that Azerbaijani-Georgian close cooperation is beneficial not only for the countries, but also the whole region. Aliyev also said that Azerbaijan ‘is happy with the success of the Georgian government in all fields.’
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili is visiting Azerbaijan today, where he will meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. During the visit Georgian and Azerbaijani intergovernmental economic commissions, chaired by Garibashvili and Aliyev, will hold a meeting and sign a memorandum on cooperation.

The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava is paying an official visit to Azerbaijan. During the meeting with her Azerbaijani counterpart Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister Turnava noted that Azerbaijan remains one of Georgia’s main trading partners.
