Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili is visiting Azerbaijan today, where he will meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
During the visit Georgian and Azerbaijani intergovernmental economic commissions, chaired by Garibashvili and Aliyev, will hold a meeting and sign a memorandum on cooperation.
Aliyev is scheduled to host Garibashvili and members of the Georgian delegation at a working dinner later today.
The Georgian delegation is composed of Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani, Economy Minister Natia Turnava and head of the Administration of the Government of Georgia Ilia Darchiashvili.
The last meeting between Garibashvili and Aliyev took place in Baku back in May 2021.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku earlier today. Both officials praised ‘centuries-long brotherly relations’ and mentioned the importance of regional projects which have been carried out through joint efforts in recent years. Aliyev said that the projects ‘changed the map of the region, political, economic, transportation and energy map.’
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili left for Azerbaijan earlier today, where he is scheduled to hold his first meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Zagulba Palace later today.
Georgian Defence Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev earlier today in Baku, to discuss strategic cooperation and joint projects, the Defence Ministry press office reports.“Garibashvili thanked Azerbaijan for supporting Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and stated that the relationship between the two countries is based on trust and strategic cooperation,” the press office said.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said in an interview with the French Le Figaro newspaper that his country’s relations with Georgia are ‘excellent’. Azerbaijani President stressed in his remarks that the two countries call each other ‘strategic partners’.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Georgian PM Irakli Garibashvili met in Baku earlier today, during the second official visit of Garibashvili to Azerbaijan this year. After the meeting Aliyev said that Azerbaijani-Georgian close cooperation is beneficial not only for the countries, but also the whole region. Aliyev also said that Azerbaijan ‘is happy with the success of the Georgian government in all fields.’
Georgian and Azerbaijani Prime Ministers Irakli Garibashvili and Ali Asadov have pledged to deepen their countries’ economic ties at the inter-governmental economic commission session held in Baku earlier today. PM Garibashvili said Azerbaijan is not only a friend and a neighbor of Georgia, but one of the main strategic partners as well.
Expanding the cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan in the fields of education and science, as well as the signing of an agreement to strengthen educational institutions in the countries, were on the top of the agenda of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili’s meeting with Azerbaijani education minister Emin Amrullayev on Tuesday.
Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev is set to visit Georgia on his second official trip today, with the visiting official and Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili scheduled to make joint statements for the media later during the day, the Georgian government administration has announced.
Zurab Pataradze, the Georgian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, on Friday said Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili’s ongoing visit to Azerbaijan was expected to ensure “concrete benefits” in bilateral cooperation and improve Georgia’s economic indicators.
