Six projects to be implemented within Tbilisi City Hall’s new green plan

Tbilisi City Hall’s new plan to green the city includes the creation of new parks, new forests, greening more districts, reducing air pollution and introducing a new waste collection system, said Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze earlier today when presenting the new environmental policy of the city.
The six new projects that are planned to be implemented during the next four years are:
- Creation of 15 new parks
- Green City project - at least 300,000 plants will be planted in Tbilisi
- Tbilisi Forest project - forests will be cultivated on 200 ha territory and will cover Mtatsminda, Tbilisi Sea, Makhata Mount, Nutsubidze and Jikia slopes
- Green Your District - as part of the project Tbilisi City Hall will plant new plants in front of the residential buildings and the residents will take care of new green spaces
- Reducing air dust by about 15%
- Introducing separate waste collection system
Of the planned 15 parks, nine will be new. The remaining six are old parks that need renovation.
The nine new parks are:
- Gorgasali boulevard - 100,000 m2
- Digomi floodplains recreation park - 150,000 m2
- Tbilisi Sea district park - 240,000 m2
- Vazisubani park - 190,000 m2
- Tbilisi Sea boulevard - 300,000 m2
- Military Town park - 110,000 m2
- Tbilisi Central Park - 210,000 m2
- Gldani small lake - 30,000 m2
- Avtchala park - 30,000 m2
The six old parks which will be renovated are:
- Digomi forest - 210,000 m2
- Dendrological park - 1.6 million m2
- Tsitsishvili park - 20,000 m2
- Vera park - 40,000 m2
- Sarajishvili boulevard - 35,000 m2
- Samgori park - 20,000 m2

In about one year the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi will welcome the region's first Outlet Village that will serve both Georgian citizens and visitors of the country. Outlet village will be built just outside Tbilisi, near Lilo and the Customs Clearance Zone. The project will be implemented by the local real estate development company Domus and 70 million GEL will be invested in it.
A new, 5,000 sq. meter park has opened in the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi, at Panaskerteli-Tsitsishvili street in Saburtalo district. "Many families live in this area and the implementation of this project was important. People of all ages will be able to spend time in the recreational space", Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said.
Yet another green area has been added to the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi, which unites the renovated Dedaena Park, 9 March Park, Dry Bridge and Saarbruecken Bridge in the center of the city. Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze and Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili opened the new green area yesterday.
Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze has announced today several new projects that ‘have the potential to become the lungs' of the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi. One of the projects is the renovation of Tbilisi Dendrological Park that is located on the territory of Tbilisi Sea and spreads over 163 hectares, of which 93 ha is covered by forest.
Tbilisi’s Vera Park, one of the oldest recreational centres in the city, will be renovated, acting Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced today. Renovations — costing 700,000 GEL — are to take place in cooperation with the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Tbilisi City Hall says that it is planned to make Melikishvili street in Tbilisi two-way for municipal public transport following the renovation of the street, adding that the renovation of various other streets and an upgrade of traffic grids in the city are also planned, local media outlet On.ge reports.
The fine for damaging green plants in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi will be increased from ₾500 ($170/€162) to ₾5,000 ($1,706/€1,622) in a bill being prepared by city authorities, Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced on Wednesday.
The Tbilisi district of Chugureti will have a new public park boosting recreation in the area, with the City Hall announcing the ongoing construction on an area of 5,000 square metres in the Ivertubani settlement on Thursday.
