Traffic on Melikishvili street in Tbilisi to become two-way

Tbilisi City Hall says that it is planned to make Melikishvili street in Tbilisi two-way for municipal public transport following the renovation of the street, adding that the renovation of various other streets and an upgrade of traffic grids in the city are also planned, local media outlet On.ge reports. 

Regarding Melikishvili street, field experts have expressed the opinion that it would be good for the traffic on this street to be two-way,” the city hall says.

Traffic on Melikishvili street currently is one-way for all types of transport and it will become two-way only for public transport after the renovation of the street.

The city hall also reported that, along with Melikishvili, a renovation of Ketevan Tsamebuli Avenue is also planned, noting that these two streets should be renovated by 2022.

The renovation of Melikishvili street will be financed from the budget of the capital with five million GEL, while that of Ketevan Tsamebuli Avenue for a total of six million GEL, Tbilisi City Hall told news agency Interpressnews (IPN).
