Coronavirus: 2,616 new cases of 36,375 tests in 24 hours

Georgia has reported 2,616 new cases of coronavirus, 880 recoveries and 26 deaths in the past 24 hours.
An infant has died of the Delta variant of coronavirus at the Tsitsishvili Clinic in the capital city of Tbilisi. Medical director of clinic Maia Chkhaidze told local media outlet InterPressNews that the child's health condition was critical.
This is the patient we have been talking about for the last few days. His health condition was critically serious. He was infected with the Delta variant. He was transferred from Sokhumi clinic”, said Chkhaidze.
This is the second case of an infant’s death from coronavirus in Georgia.
In total, 36,375 tests have been conducted around the country of which 22,825 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 13,550 were PCR tests.
The new cases were recorded in:
- Tbilisi - 1,557 cases
- Adjara - 205 cases
- Imereti - 191 cases
- Kakheti - 152 cases
- Kvemo Kartli - 117 cases
- Shida Kartli - 115 cases
- Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 128 cases
- Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 61 cases
- Samtskhe-Javakheti - 45 cases
- Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 21 cases
- Guria - 24 cases

Currently 18,197 individuals remain infected with Covid-19, of which:
- 12,582 patients are undergoing treatment at home
- 4,495 patients - in hospitals
- 1,120 patients - in the clinical-hotels
In addition, 855 patients are in critical condition of which 183 are on artificial ventilation.
As of today 12,720 individuals are in self-isolation and 70 individuals are under quarantine.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili once again called on the local population to vaccinate against Covid-19.
"Our country will not be able to survive another lockup", he said at today's government meeting, adding that if the government tightens regulations in the country again, 'an unbearable situation' will be created.

Garibashvili stated that 'we have all the resources' to vaccinate people as soon as possible.

Georgia has reported 848 new cases of coronavirus, 1,231 recoveries and 15 deaths in the past 24 hours. In total, 18,194 tests have been conducted around the country of which 9,607 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 8,587 were PCR tests.
Georgia has reported 1,286 new cases of Covid-19, 1,701 recoveries and 13 deaths over the last 24 hours. Out of the 1,286 new cases 759 were reported in Tbilisi. As of now the number of total confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Georgia stands at 387,481, including 365,019 recoveries, 5,551 deaths and 16,885 active cases.
The delivery of one million doses of the Pfizer vaccines has already begun in Georgia, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has announced. He said Georgia will be receiving the vaccines gradually every weekend enabling the population to register at booking.moh.gov.ge.

Facemasks may become mandatory outdoors again in Georgia in groups of 5-6 people due to increased Covid-19 cases, Head of Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Amiran Gamkrelidze announced earlier today. However, the order has not been formally issued yet, the coordinating council will review the proposal.
