Tbilisi City Court has found former Prosecutor General of Georgia Zurab Adeishvili guilty of kidnapping and abuse of official authority in the case of former opposition leader Koba Davitashvili.
Davitashvili was kidnapped and severely beaten during an opposition rally in Tbilisi in 2007 under the United National Movement government.
Davitashvili, who had Bekhterev’s disease, died aged 49 last year.
He claimed that the trauma he received in 2007 caused the disease.
Adeishvili has been sentenced to six years in prison in absentia.
He has been on the run since 2012.
