Heavy frost has destroyed crops in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region of Georgia and killed cattle over the past two days, say local farmers, according to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

On the morning of May 11, the air temperature in the high mountains dropped to -6 degrees. Fruits and crops froze due to bad weather", reports the Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

As reported on the night of May 10, 40 sheep and two cows died of cold in the village of Eshtia in Ninotsminda Municipality. 

A representative of the village of Eshtia says that the farmers could not be compensated for the loss because the cattle were not insured.
