Farmers whose cattle die with anthrax will receive financial compensation from the state starting January 1, 2022, announces the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) in Georgia.
However, farmers will only receive compensation if their cattle are identified with ear markings, are registered in the National Animal Identification and Tracing System and are vaccinated.
Also, in order to receive compensation, the owner / caretaker of the cattle is obliged to immediately inform the National Food Agency in case of possible infection or death of the cattle. The case of anthrax must be confirmed in a laboratory", says FAO.
Anthrax is an infectious disease caused by gram-positive, rod-shaped bacteria known as Bacillus anthracis. Anthrax can be found naturally in soil and commonly affects domestic and wild animals around the world.
