Construction of a new sports complex has started in Zugdidi, western Georgia, the total cost of which is 11.3 million GEL, announces the Ministry of Infrastructure of Georgia.
The project is financed by the Asian Development Bank.
The two-storied building will include a large and small swimming pool, training apparatus, halls for weightlifting, boxing and wrestling.
Dressing rooms and showers for athletes as well as coaches and referees, an open cafe and a small store, conference hall and a parking space will also be constructed.
The Ministry of Infrastructure says that the new sports complex will help people interested in sports to train in a well-equipped environment and hold tournaments in many types of sports, both nationally and internationally.
These activities will help to establish a healthy lifestyle among young people", says the ministry.
Construction of the sports complex is due to be completed in 18 months.
