Georgia reports 1,551 new cases of coronavirus of 29,487 tests

Georgia has reported 1,551 new cases of coronavirus, 878 recoveries and 17 deaths in the past 24 hours.
In total 29,487 tests have been conducted around the country on the weekend of which 11,878 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 17,609 were PCR tests.
The new cases were recorded in:
- Tbilisi - 918 cases
- Adjara - 121 cases
- Imereti - 101 cases
- Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 130 cases
- Kvemo Kartli - 82 cases
- Shida Kartli - 69 cases
- Kakheti - 48 cases
- Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 35 cases
- Guria - 32 cases
- Samtskhe-Javakheti - 12 cases
- Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 3 case
Currently 14,482 individuals remain infected with Covid-19 of which 3,780 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals, 707 in the hotels and 9,995 at home. 732 of the 3,780 patients are in critical condition and 156 of the 732 critical patients are on artificial ventilation.

As of today 29,888 individuals are in self-isolation.

Head of the Georgian National Centre for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze says that as in many countries of the world a third wave of Covid-19 has started in Georgia as well.
Georgian Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia says that if the public will not observe coronavirus recommendations and rules the government will have to reimpose restrictions. She stated that coronavirus cases are surging in Georgia and that the country ‘is technically ready’ for a third wave of coronavirus. However, Gabunia said that ‘doctors are very much stressed and tired’ and it will be ‘hard for them’ to serve thousands of Covid-19 patients on a daily basis.
Georgia has reported 1,578 new cases of coronavirus, 909 recoveries and 17 deaths in the past 24 hours. In total 27,373 tests have been conducted around the country on the weekend of which 13,217 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 14,156 were PCR tests.
The Georgian government has imposed several coronavirus restrictions ahead of the Easter holidays which is marked on May 2 this year. According to the government decision municipal transport will not work across Georgia between 3-12 May. Roads to cemeteries will be closed by police during the holiday to prevent assemblies there. Churchgoers will have to obverse coronavirus rules during the Easter liturgy on May 1-2.
Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze has stated that Georgia is expecting to receive one million doses of Pfizer vaccine in summer. Minister Tikaradze who addressed the parliament earlier today also told MPs that negotiations are also underway for Johnson & Johnson and Moderna vaccines.
Georgia has reported 1,476 new cases of coronavirus, 791 recoveries and 15 deaths in the past 24 hours. In total 27,895 tests have been conducted around the country on the weekend of which 11,090 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 16,805 were PCR tests.
