Georgia reports 578 new cases of coronavirus of 9,750 tests

Georgia has reported 578 new cases of coronavirus, 659 recoveries and 10 deaths in the past 24 hours. 

9,750 tests have been conducted around the country on the weekend. 5,650 of the 9,750 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 4,100 were PCR tests. 

The country has had 295,936 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020. 

3.06 per cent of tested individuals had Covid-19 in the past 14 days.

Georgian Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze said last week that if more than four per cent of tested individuals test positive for coronavirus in two consecutive weeks, the government of Georgia is likely to impose coronavirus restrictions, including lockdown.

281,574 of the 295,936 patients have recovered, while 3,949 have died from the virus. 

Currently 10,387 individuals remain infected with Covid-19. 

The new 578 cases were recorded in: 

  • Tbilisi - 321 cases 
  • Adjara - 57 cases 
  • Imereti - 35 cases
  • Kvemo Kartli - 20 cases 
  • Shida Kartli - 7 cases 
  • Guria - 16 cases 
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 80 cases 
  • Kakheti - 23 cases
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 10 cases
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti - 9 cases
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 0 case

3,174 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. 563 of the 3,174 patients are in critical condition. 89 of the 563 critical patients are on artificial ventilation. 

16,260 individuals are in self-isolation. 

More than 3,885,000 tests have been conducted in the country so far.
