One new confirmed case brings total COVID-19 cases to 91 in Georgia

One more individual has tested positive for the new coronavirus in Georgia, bringing total confirmed cases to 91. 

Medical director of Tbilisi Hospital of Infectious Diseases Marina Ezugbaia said s/he had returned from England and was self-isolating until now.

As of now, a total of 18 individuals have recovered, 71 remain at various hospitals throughout the country, while two foreigners out of the total 91 have departed to their country.

Georgia has declared the state of emergency until April 21 aimed to counter the global coronavirus pandemic.

Marneuli and Bolnisi municipalities in eastern Georgia remain under lockdown after a 62-year-old woman from Marneuli tested positive for the new coronavirus. 

Starting today, public transport has been suspended in the western Georgian region of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti to counter the further spread of COVID-19. 

Head of the Georgian National Centre for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze has called on everyone to stay home, he said “social distancing is the most powerful weapon" against the coronavirus.
