Armenian PM Pashinyan to visit Georgia

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will visit Georgia tomorrow, the government of Georgia press office reports.
An official reception ceremony will be held at the administration building of the government of Georgia in central Tbilisi, with Georgian PM Giorgi Gakharia and Pashinyan meeting face-to-face and then making comments for the media.
Pashinyan will also meet with Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili and Parliament Speaker Archil Talakvadze before leaving for the country on March 4.
Gakharia and Pashinyan met in Yerevan in October 2019, promising to further strengthen political and economic ties.
It was Gakharia’s second visit abroad as the PM.
Georgian and Armenian Prime Ministers Mamuka Bakhtadze and Nikol Pashinyan met informally today in the village of Yenokavan in the Tavush province bordering Georgia. Tomorrow PM Bakhtadze will meet with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who has arrived in Georgia on a two day visit on March 24-25.
Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili has visited Armenia on her official trip today and has held a meeting with her Armenian counterpart Armen Sarkissian.
Georgian Defence Minister Levan Izoria and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan have met to discuss how the cooperation in the defence field may be boosted between the two countries.
“We have a big responsibility - it is our history and our ancestors who have made the foundation for the friendly relation between Georgian and Armenian people. I am sure we will carry the responsibility worthily. We, the Georgian government, are ready to work hard for bilateral relations to become even more effective,” Gakharia said.

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia has hosted Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who is visiting Georgia on March 3-4. After a welcoming ceremony at the Government Administration the two prime ministers held a face-to-face meeting.

Georgian and Armenian citizens will be able to cross the border between the two states with the use of ID cards only as per of the agreement signed during the visit of Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan in Georgia earlier this week. It has not been announced so far when the agreement will come into play.
Georgian health officials and ministers have stated that the country is ready to help neighbouring Armenia in the fight against the coronavirus. Armenia has already registered more than 14,000 cases of COVID-19.
Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili has expressed concern over the 12-13 July armed confrontation on the border of neighbouring states Azerbaijan and Armenia, with both sides using artillery, mortar, and tanks in the northern area of their borders.
