Georgian Dream Executive Secretary Irakli Kobakhidze has told local media at least a dozen election districts across the country are expected to go into runoff after the Saturday voting of parliamentary elections.
Kobakhidze made comments during a media briefing at the Georgian Dream party headquarters the night following the October 31 voting, telling reporters he expected a second stage of elections in at least 12 districts across the country.
The party secretary claimed the ruling party had won in "absolutely all cities and districts" and received 51 percent of votes based on over 1,600 summary protocol papers at his disposal.
Kobakhidze also told the media his party was winning outright in over half of the single-seat majoritarian districts, adding most of the closely contested districts looking at prospects of runoff were concentrated in Tbilisi.
