The Central Election Commission of Georgia, the election body in the country, is in the process of counting votes cast by eligible citizens in the parliamentary elections of October 31.
While the eagerly awaited initial results of the vote have not been revealed yet, the CEC has followed its custom over the last elections and made available a livestream of the ballot-counting process on the web.
The commission has said its preliminary results will be made public five to seven hours following the closure of polling stations earlier in the evening. The voting ended at most stations at the formal deadline of 8pm local time, however some voting sites continued to a later time.
The election body will also need to count more bulletins than at the previous polling in 2016. The October 31 elections had a turnout of 56.11 percent of eligible voters according to data available at 8pm, which is higher than the 51.63 percent of citizens who went to stations four years ago.
In numbers, the 2020 elections saw 1,970,540 citizens cast their vote - again by 8pm local time - compared to 1,814,276 in the 2016 edition.
