Regulations in Adjara may be lifted starting next week

Regulations in the Adjara region might be lifted starting next week, said Head of the Adjara region government Tornike Rijvadze earlier today. 

He said that first of all municipal transport will be resumed. 

The situation is stabilizing on a daily basis…we have a consistent decrease in new coronavirus cases and at the same time a significant number of recovered people,” said Rijvadze.

He noted that testing people for the coronavirus continues. 

Rijvadze said that 250 people have recovered in Adjara today, while in total there are about 3,000 people who have recovered in the region. 

Rijvadze noted that in the last two days more than 2,000 people have been tested for the virus in the Adjara region. 

He said that the details about lifting the restrictions will be announced next week, including restoring municipal transport and restarting studies at schools and kindergartens. 

Municipal transport was suspended in the Adjara region on September 25. Meanwhile, restaurants close in the region at 22 p.m.

Public intercity transport was suspended in the Adjara region on September 26. The restriction did not apply to taxis which were  still available in the region.

Georgia has had 10,752 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020.

5,866 of the 10,752 patients have recovered, while 72 others have died. 

As of today 4,814 individuals remain infected with Covid-19 in the country.

66 of the 4,814 patients are in critical condition.
