The Georgian Interior Ministry has announced that 11 of its employees in various departments have tested positive for the coronavirus.
The ministry also noted that all of them were delivered to hospitals for further treatment.

Georgia has again reported record high 196 new coronavirus cases this morning, increasing the total number of confirmed cases to 3,502, including 1,494 recoveries and 19 deaths.
A new record high of 196 coronavirus cases has been confirmed in Georgia since yesterday. 13 patients have recovered. Meanwhile, independent MP of Tbilisi City Council (Sakrebulo) Jaba Jushkariani who is a member of opposition Our Georgia – Solidarity Alliance has also tested positive for coronavirus.
The Central Election Commission has set safety guidelines for the upcoming parliamentary elections on October 31 following consultations with political parties and monitoring organisations. Disinfectant barriers and hand sanitizers as well as information about preventive measures against the spread of the virus will be placed at the entrance of polling premises, the CEC said.
Germany will send 37 observers for Georgia’s October 31 parliamentary elections in the coming days, while the rest will visit the country by the end of September, German Ambassador to Georgia Hubert Knirsch said in an interview with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) on September 17.
An employee of Tbilisi City Hall’s municipal inspection has tested positive for coronavirus. Press office of the City Hall reported earlier today that the infected individual has been absent at work for over a week now.
Georgia has reported 193 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today and announced the death of a 20th patient since the country confirmed its first case of the coronavirus at the end of February 2020. The 60-year-old woman who has died of the virus was earlier transported from Georgia’s Russian-occupied Abkhazia region in critical condition. A public school in Senaki, in the Samegrelo region of western Georgia, has had to switch to remote learning as a teacher and two pupils have tested positive for the coronavirus.
Tents will be set up in Tbilisi at different locations where citizens will be able to undergo voluntary coronavirus testing, the National Disease Control Centre (NCDC) announced earlier today.
The Imereti region in west Georgia has reported 53 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, most of which are related to shopping centre ‘Okros birja’, where five employees were confirmed infected on September 18.
Thirteen employees of Georgian Interior Ministry have tested positive for the coronavirus over the past 24 hours. Ten of the 13 new cases were from the country’s coastal Adjara region.
