Everyone who had contact with a coronavirus-infected independent MP Levan Gogichaishvili since September 5 will be tested for COVID-19 and go into self-isolation, parliament’s press office has reported.
Meanwhile, Gogichaishvili’s workspace will be disinfected, while everyone entering the legislative body will go through the thermal screening.
Wearing a protective face mask is again mandatory as the Georgian parliament continues to operate under the regulations of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Georgian National Disease Control Centre (NCDC).

Georgia has reported 44 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today, of which 25 were detected in the Adjara region. The number of recoveries has increased by four, reaching 1,325. In total 19 people have died of the virus in the country, 5,882 people are in quarantine, and 41 citizens of Georgia have been transported home from abroad for treatment.
Individuals entering Georgia will have to spend eight days instead of 12 in quarantine in Georgia, said Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia today.
Georgia has reported a record 57 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today. Medical Director of Tbilisi Infectious Disease Hospital Marina Ezugbaia said that five new patients contracted the virus from the cluster of candy shop Dona in Batumi in the Adjara region of Georgia, 14 other patients were also infected in Batumi, 18 had contact with infected individuals, four patients have travel history in Adjara, three cases are ‘imported’ of which two are truck drivers and the source of infections has not been identified in the remaining eight cases.
Georgia has reported a record 87 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today, of which 29 were registered in Batumi, in the Adjara region of Georgia and the source of 10 cases are unknown. Currently, 536 people are undergoing treatment at Covid centres of which four are in critical and 17 are in severe condition. Meanwhile, the number of recoveries has increased by 20, reaching 1,354.
This year's Tbilisoba city festival, an open-air gathering of citizens and visitors of Georgia's capital city to mark its history and cultural delights, will not have a customary run in streets, switching instead to a televised format for its performances as a precaution from the COVID-19 pandemic.
