Georgian National Tourism Administration hopes Georgia will soon be able to increase the frequency of international flights, northwithstanding circumstances of the pandemic, head of the agency Mariam Kvrivishvili said earlier today.
Kvrivishvili made the comment while answering questions from local media about prospective resumption of WizzAir and Ryanair airline flights from and to the country following the lockdown.
We have regular air traffic with the European Union. Air France as well as Lufthansa [have resumed flights] in Georgia. We also have flights with Riga,” she told reporters.
Kvrivishvili said flights by different airlines were being added to the Georgian airspace on a daily basis and said foreign travellers as well as Georgian citizens could enter the country by charter flights.
The Council of the European Union updated the list of countries for which travel restrictions should be gradually lifted on July 31 and the list still includes Georgia.
Georgia has opened its borders for travellers from Germany, France, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia unconditionally. All five countries have also opened borders for Georgia.
Students who study in European countries and are currently in Georgia will be able to depart to Budapest by special charter flight on September 8.
Regular international flights will not resume in Georgia until October 1, announces the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency, however Paris, Riga and Munich will be exceptions. Georgians travelling to Lithuania will be obliged to go into 14-days self-isolation and also present a negative PCR test for coronavirus conducted within the last 72 hours.
Georgians travelling to Estonia will be obliged to go into 14-days self-isolation or conduct a test for the coronavirus at the Tallinn Airport, or at the Port of Tallinn.
