15 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Georgia

Fifteen people tested positive for coronavirus in Georgia since yesterday, increasing the number of total cases to 1336. Four individuals out of the 15 were infected in the Adjara region.
The region’s Health Ministry has confirmed that two of them had contacts with a female employee of the Havana café who tested positive in Kobuleti yesterday, while two others are truck drivers.
Meanwhile yesterday the interagency coordination council chaired by Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia has called on everyone who had been at the Havana café between August 9-11 to visit the fever centres “if they develop any symptoms” of the virus
The medical director of Tbilisi Infectious Disease Hospital Marina Ezugbaia told journalists today that nine infected individuals out of the 15 had travelled to Svaneti, four had contacts with infected individuals, one is a truck driver, while the source of infection for one individual has not yet been identified.
Nine coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Kazbegi municipality, eastern Georgia, said Mayor of Kazbegi municipality Alexandre Zagashvili, noting the ‘epidemiological situation is calm and under control.’
Individuals will have to spend 12 days instead of 14 in quarantine or self isolation in Georgia, according to a new decree which comes into play starting August 12.
Georgia has reported 23 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today. Six of the 23 new patients are from Lenjeri village of Mestia municipality which is on lockdown. Eleven of the new patients contracted the virus from contact with infected individuals in the country, two new cases were imported (both are truck drivers), one new patient is a medical personnel, while the source of infection has not been identified in the remaining three cases. Since February 26, 2020 Georgia has had 1,306 cases of the coronavirus.
