Georgia reports 5 new cases of coronavirus, 4 recoveries

Georgia has reported five new cases of the coronavirus earlier today.
Two of the new patients contracted the virus from infected individuals in the country, one new case was imported while the source of infection has not been identified in the remaining two cases.
The number of recoveries has increased by four, reaching 1,092.

In total 7,082 people are in quarantine. 17 people have died of the virus in the country, and 41 citizens of Georgia have been transported home from abroad for treatment.
Since February 26, 2020 Georgia has had 1,341 cases of the coronavirus.
Fifteen people tested positive for coronavirus in Georgia since yesterday, increasing the number of total cases to 1336. Four individuals out of the 15 were infected in the Adjara region.
The medical director of Tbilisi Infectious Disease Hospital Marina Ezugbaia told journalists today that nine infected individuals out of the 15 had travelled to Svaneti, four had contacts with infected individuals, one is a truck driver, while the source of infection for one individual has not yet been identified.
Nine coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Kazbegi municipality, eastern Georgia, said Mayor of Kazbegi municipality Alexandre Zagashvili, noting the ‘epidemiological situation is calm and under control.’
Individuals will have to spend 12 days instead of 14 in quarantine or self isolation in Georgia, according to a new decree which comes into play starting August 12.
