Georgia reports 10 new cases of coronavirus

Georgia has reported 10 new cases of the coronavirus earlier today.
Medical Director of Tbilisi Infectious Disease Hospital Marina Ezugbaia said that one new patient contracted the virus from the Lenjeri village of Mestia municipality, four from contact with an infected individual and two cases were ‘imported’. She said that the source of infections has not been identified in the remaining three cases.
The number of recoveries remains 1,098.
In total 7,235 people are in quarantine. 17 people have died of the virus in the country, and 41 citizens of Georgia have been transported home from abroad for treatment.

Since February 26, 2020 Georgia has had 1,361 cases of the coronavirus.
Meanwhile, mass thermo screening continues in Mestia municipality, in western Georgia, which has been under lockdown since August 10.
Deputy Governor of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Nino Vibliani said that so far more than 400 individuals have undergone PCR testing in the region and the results have all been negative.
She also said that currently more than 700 people are under quarantine.

Georgia has reported five new cases of the coronavirus earlier today. Two of the new patients contracted the virus from infected individuals in the country, one new case was imported while the source of infection has not been identified in the remaining two cases.
Fifteen people tested positive for coronavirus in Georgia since yesterday, increasing the number of total cases to 1336. Four individuals out of the 15 were infected in the Adjara region.
The medical director of Tbilisi Infectious Disease Hospital Marina Ezugbaia told journalists today that nine infected individuals out of the 15 had travelled to Svaneti, four had contacts with infected individuals, one is a truck driver, while the source of infection for one individual has not yet been identified.
Villages in Mestia municipality which have been under lockdown will open starting August 21, except the village of Lenjeri and the small town of Mestia – the administrative center of the municipality.
Tents will be set up on the Batumi Boulevard where tourists and locals will be able to undergo voluntary coronavirus testing, announces Head of the National Disease Control Centre (NCDC) Amiran Gamkrelidze.
