Families will receive one-time assistance of 200 GEL (about $64.83/€54.65) per child from the state, announces Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia.
He said assistance for children will help them prepare for the upcoming academic year.
This will be one of the most important social assistance programmes for children and of course it will help them prepare for the upcoming academic year", said Gakharia.
One-time assistance for children is part of the third phase of the government's anti-crisis plan which was announced today in order to further ease the burden caused by the coronavirus crisis.
In addition all students who have a rating score of 150,000 from the Social Service Agency will receive full tuition from the state for one semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. Furthermore, students whose score is below 150,000 points and have their student status suspended due to the non-payment of tuition fees will also receive 2,250 GEL in financing for tuition in 2020-2021.
Gakharia said that more than 33,000 students in Georgia will benefit from this assistance.
