As of now about 132,000 self-employed people have registered in total to receive one-time assistance of 300 GEL from the government of Georgia in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
Around half of those registered, around 66,660 people have already received one-time assistance of 300 GEL ($98.7/€86.8) which amounted to 19,998,000 GEL in total.
In order to receive compensation, an individual must prove they were engaged in economic activities in the first quarter of 2020 and received an income from these activities.
As for people who have lost their jobs amid the coronavirus crisis, Georgia has already supported 90,802 people with 200 GEL ($65.8/€57.8) assistance which amounted to 18,160,400 GEL in total.
Based on the government’s coronavirus anti-crisis plan, people who lost their jobs because of the coronavirus crisis or are on unpaid leave will receive 1,200 GEL over the course of six months, which is 200 GEL per month. This assistance will apply to 350,000 citizens of Georgia. A total of 460 million GEL ($151.4 mln/€133 mln) has been allocated from the budget.
The registration of self-employed people on the website of the Ministry of Health of Georgia to receive one-time assistance from the state began on May 15. Registration will continue until July 1.
