Swimming pools and gyms will open in Georgia after inspections by the Labour Conditions Inspection Department.
The decision was made today at the meeting of the Intergovernmental Coordination Council.
The Department of Labor inspection will publish regulations for pools and gyms today and will start inspecting them tomorrow.
Swimming pools and gyms that are successfully inspected will immediately be able to begin functioning again,” the Georgian government says.
Starting today, exhibitions, training and conferences are also allowed in Georgia.
Also, vocational education institutions which fulfill the recommendations of the Health Ministry have opened.
The Intergovernmental Coordination Council has urged the Ministry of Health to develop recommendations regarding the rules for holding cultural events in open areas.
Georgia has reported just two new cases of the coronavirus earlier today, bringing the total number of cases to 953. 830 of the 953 patients have recovered, while 15 others have died. As of today 108 people remain infected with COVID-19 in the country. Georgia reported its first case of the coronavirus on February 26, 2020. Since then more than 113,000 people have been tested for the coronavirus.
The UNDP is joining hands with the government of Sweden to support the National Center for Disease Control of Georgia train 4,000 health workers across the country in enhanced infection prevention and control.

The Georgian Ministry of Health has issued a series of coronavirus regulations for gyms and fitness centres to reopen today. Gyms were closed in mid-March 2020 in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the country.
Open and closed swimming pools, saunas and baths must follow a set of recommendations issued by the Georgian Health Ministry after reopening.
A total of 25 out of 64 inspected fitness centers have been allowed to reopen after passing Ministry of Health inspections, while of 30 inspected swimming pools, only 17 passed.
Georgia is allowing open air cultural events to resume starting today, though is restricting the amount of people that can attend to no more than 200 people.
No more than 100 people will be allowed to attend weddings, rituals (baptism, funeral) and various social events in open spaces starting today in order to prevent the risk of spreading COVID-19, reports the government’s press office.
