Georgian Foreign Minister David Zaklaliani has spoken with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas to discuss relations between the countries amid the coronavirus including the resumption of flights between Georgia and Germany.
Maas said that Germany is working on travel recommendations and after a unified agreement of the European Union on this issue, it will discuss the resumption of flights to Georgia and noted that Germany is positive about this.
He praised Georgia’s steps taken to combat the virus and noted the importance of solidarity in the region to prevent a second wave of infections during the pandemic and ensure safety.
Both Zalkaliani and Maas agreed that further deepening economic relations will be important in the post-crisis period.

Zalkaliani discussed Georgia’s plans to host tourists this summer observing the recommendations of the World Health Organization.
Foreign Ministers of Georgia and Germany discussed the cooperation and future plans within the EU's Eastern Partnership, especially given that from July 1, 2020, Germany will take over the presidency of the EU Council for six months.
Zalkaliani also spoke about the security and humanitarian situation in the Russian-occupied territories of Georgia.
In the last 24 hours, 192 new cases of the Covid-19 have been confirmed in Germany increasing the total number of confirmed cases to 186,461 in the country.
As of now 8,791 people have died from the coronavirus in Germany with four dead in the last 24 hours.
