Georgian airports request passengers arrive three hours prior to departure

Passengers should plan to arrive at Georgian airports three hours prior to departure, announces the Director General of the United Airports of Georgia Tamar Archuadze.
Archuadze explained that due to increased safety measures and recommendations, preboarding and other departure procedures will take more time.
Earlier it was recommended passengers arrive two hours in advance.
Recommendations for passengers at the departure terminal:
- Wearing face masks are mandatory for the passengers as well
- Passengers must undergo screening with thermal devices
- Passengers, if they are not family members, should keep a distance of 1.5 meters
- Abide by recommendations that will be announced at the airport
On the plane:
- Passengers must take their seats in a timely fashion and follow the instructions of crew members
- Passengers must contact crew members immediately if they feel unwell or experience symptoms typical of COVID 19
- When getting of the plane, passengers must follow the instructions of the carrier airline and keep the social distance
- Passengers must undergo thermal screening again
The recommendations were created by the Ministry of Health of Georgia and the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency. The recommendations may be changed per the epidemiological situation.
Georgian Foreign Minister David Zaklaliani has spoken with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas to discuss relations between the countries amid the coronavirus including the resumption of flights between Georgia and Germany.
The Georgian Civil Aviation Agency has published recommendations for airports, airline companies and passengers about how to carry out flights during the coronavirus pandemic.
Travel by railway will resume in Georgia on June 15, announces Georgian Railways, noting the company is ready to ensure the safe transportation of passengers and to implement the regulations imposed by the Ministry of Health of Georgia.
The European Commission recommends Schengen Member States and the Schengen Associated States to lift internal border controls by June 15, 2020 and to prolong temporary restriction on non-essential travel into the EU until June 30, 2020, however, Georgia was promised to be one of the first countries to which the EU borders will be opened.
Residents of Georgia will not need to be placed in mandatory quarantine upon arrival to Germany for business, education or health-related needs starting June 15. However, Germany has not yet reopened its airspace for tourists from non-EU member states, including Georgia.
Germany is lifting entry restrictions for citizens of 11 non-EU countries including Georgia from today.
Individuals who have been in the United Kingdom in the last two weeks will be placed under a 12-day quarantine when entering Georgia.
