Travel by railway will resume in Georgia on June 15, announces Georgian Railways, noting the company is ready to ensure the safe transportation of passengers and to implement the regulations imposed by the Ministry of Health of Georgia.
Georgian Railway said that the Ministry of Health has already inspected train wagons today and concluded that Georgian Railways is strictly following all the regulations and is ready to restore the transportation of passengers.
Head of Georgian Railways’ Medical Service Nika Katcharava said that together with the Ministry of Health, Georgian Railways has created instructions for passengers according which:
- Passengers will undergo screening with thermal devices
- Passengers should step on disinfecting mats when entering train wagons
- Hand disinfection and social distancing is also mandatory
- Passengers should wear face masks during the whole journey
Meanwhile, starting today, intercity transport, currency exchange booths and all types of restaurants which have received permission from the Georgian Health Ministry have resumed work.
Georgia has reported just one new case of the coronavirus earlier today, bringing the total number of cases to 810. 683 of the 810 patients have recovered, while 13 others have died. As of today 114 people remain infected with COVID-19 in Georgia. Starting today, intercity transport, currency exchange booths and all types of restaurants which have received permission from the Georgian Health Ministry have resumed work.
Georgia will allow long-distance (city to city) movement starting June 8, while travel by railway remains suspended.
All kinds of shops, including shopping malls, open and closed produce markets and restaurants with outdoor seating areas have resumed work in Georgia today.
Once they reopen, shopping malls in Georgia will have to abide by recommendations of the Health Ministry in the use of heat screening thermometers to check the temperature of clients and personnel before they let them enter.
