The Georgian Civil Aviation Agency has published recommendations for airports, airline companies and passengers about how to carry out flights during the coronavirus pandemic.
The recommendations for flight and departure terminals are:
- Service personnel of flight and departure terminals should wear face masks
- Airlines must provide service personnel with individual protective equipment (face masks, goggles / protective shield, gloves)
- To monitor passenger flow and put social distancing markings at the airport, as well as cancel some seats to maintain a safe distance
- To provide special rooms for isolating passengers that may have the virus
- Periodically clean and disinfect passenger service areas and frequently used surfaces (escalator handles, railings, ATMs, buttons) Disinfection solutions should be provided for the passengers throughout the airport
- Provide natural ventilation of enclosed spaces / storerooms
Recommendations on the plane:
- Aircraft crew members will be allowed only with face masks, goggles/protective shields, gloves.
- They should change uniforms every day
- Place passengers in a way to ensure social distancing between them (only if they are not a family members)
- Put information about health safety recommendations in the plane in several languages
- Teach crew members about the procedures for passenger service in the aircraft cabin during the pandemic, as well as the proper use and disposal of personal protective equipment
- Minimize contact with passengers
- When traveling for less than three hours, prohibit the provision of food to passengers. In other cases, use a pre-packaged and sealed food and beverage delivery service
- Isolate passengers if noticing the coronavirus symptoms
- Clean / disinfect the aircraft after each flight.
Recommendations for passengers at the departure terminal:
- Wearing face masks are mandatory for the passengers as well
- Passengers should undergo screening with thermal devices
- Passengers, if they are not family members should keep a distance of 1.5 meters
- Obey the recommendations that will be announced at the airport
On the plane:
- Passengers must take their seats in a timely fashion and follow the instructions of crew members
- Passengers must contact crew members immediately if they feel unwell or experience symptoms typical of COVID 19
- When getting of the plane, passengers must follow the instructions of the carrier airline and keep the social distance
- Passengers must undergo thermal screening again
The recommendations are created by the Ministry of Health of Georgia and the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency. The recommendations may be changed per the epidemiological situation.
