After three days of searching Georgian rescuers have found a man who was buried alive under an avalanche on the Pshavi-Omali road.

Severe weather conditions made the search process difficult as 532,000 tonnes of snow and land had fallen in the valley. Also, there was a risk of another avalanche,“ says the Emergency Management Service.

Kakheti Governor Irakli Kadagishvili said that the avalanche occurred while a contractor company was cleaning the Pshavi-Abano-Omalo road.

Two individuals were trapped by the debris. The rescuers managed to save one man with several injuries to his left leg who was transferred to the Telavi Referral hospital.

Five emergency brigades were searching for the man.

The area was being monitored by drone.

Rescuers from Tbilisi Emergency Response Unite were also working at the scene.
