The Emergency Management Service of Georgia on Wednesday said a citizen who had gone missing during a mining expedition in the country’s northern Kazbegi municipality was found dead by rescuers.
The service said a helicopter crew of the country’s Border Police was involved in the search and rescue efforts along with the emergency response team.
Running over several days in the area of the Gergeti Glacier on the southeastern slope of Mount Kazbegi, the operation finally ended with the discovery of the body of the missing person.
The body said the body was recovered from a snow mass by the rescuers, adding “relevant legal procedures” were now ongoing following the discovery.
