Number of crimes decreases in Georgia

The number of crimes registered between January and March of 2020 has decreased by more than 10 per per cent compared to the same period of the last year. 

16,035 crimes have been registered in the reported period of 2020, while the number stood at 17,821 in 2019. 

26.3 per cent of the crimes have been solved this year, while the figure was 26.36 per cent in 2019. 

6,541 of the 16,035 crimes were property crimes. The ministry registered 7,476 property crimes last year. 14.42 per cent of crimes (against property) were solved this year, while  the figure was 15.72 per cent in 2019. 

2,863 of the total reported crimes were violent crimes. 3,115 crimes violent crimes were reported in the same period of the last year which is more than an eight per cent in decrease.

1,075 drug crimes have been reported this year, while the figure stood at 1,295 in the same period of the last (decreased by 16.9 per cent). 

1,009 vehicle-related crimes have been reported this year, while the number of crimes in 2019 stood at 1,116 (more than nine per cent in decrease). 

Cases of labour violations have dramatically decreased by more than 57 per cent. 64 labour violations have been reported this year, while the figure stood at 150 in 2019. 

533 cyber crimes have been registered this year, while the figure stood at 476 in 2019 (increased by 11.9 per cent). 

Economic crimes have increased by more than 40 per cent (169 in 2020 and 114 in 2019).
