Man sentenced to 6 years for promising visas, jobs abroad, stealing 12,800 GEL

A person who received 12,800 GEL ($4,011/€3,679) through the fraud of 11 people has been sentenced to six years in prison. 

An individual identified only as O.G., with the help of one accomplice promised 11 people to help them get working visas to the USA and Australia and help them find a job after arriving. 

They told the injured parties that O.G., who introduced himself as Giorgi, worked in the State Security Service of Georgia and assured them that he could personally resolve travel issues abroad.

O.G. was charged with fraud on January 29, 2020.
