The police have fined 5,639 citizens for violating state of emergency regulations as a result of which 17,025,000 GEL ($5,313,007/€4,893,648) has been accumulated since March 31.
Out of these fines, 2,567 were fined for violating national curfew which is from 9 pm to 6 am.
1,669 people have been fined for driving vehicles despite the ban on the use of light vehicles and cars. Another 1,310 citizens were fined for violating social distancing. For violating self-isolation, 70 people were fined. Also, 14 individuals and nine legal entities were fined for the economic activity which was not allowed under the state of emergency.
Meanwhile, the number of economic activities that still continue in Georgia despite the state of emergency and nationwide curfew increased from 18 to 35.
Individuals face a fine of 3,000 GEL ($936/€862), while legal entities will face a fine of 15,000 GEL ($4,681/€4,312) for violation of the regulations under the state of emergency.
Yesterday on April 27, Georgia began its first stage of opening up the economy in a six-stage plan, allowing private vehicles and taxis back out onto the roads, and allowing e-commerce (wholesale and retail), delivery services and open air markets to resume operations.
Also, the Georgian government announced a two-day easing of restrictions from April 27-28 on vehicle traffic between major cities and the rest of the country for individuals to return home to their address of registration.
