238 people fined for violating state of emergency regulations

Police have fined 238 people for violating state of emergency regulations and curfew during the last 24 hours in Georgia.
The Georgian Interior Ministry reported today that police have fined:
- 21 individuals for public gathering;
- 113 individuals for violating the curfew regulations;
- 90 individuals for violating rules of transportation and driving;
- 12 individuals for violating rules of quarantine and self-isolation;
- 1 individual and 1 legal entity for violating rules of business activities.
The Interior Ministry again calls on everyone to follow the regulations of the state of emergency, otherwise individuals will face a fine of 3,000 GEL, while legal entities will face a fine of 15,000 GEL; repeat offence is punishable by three years in prison.
As of now, Georgia has confirmed 170 cases of coronavirus, including 36 recoveries and two deaths.
Georgia has declared the state of emergency until April 21. Tougher restrictions to contain the spread of the virus include a nationwide curfew that takes effect from 21:00 – 06:00 during the state of emergency.
Georgia has reported a second coronavirus-related death. Director of the First University Clinic Levan Ratiani stated today that a woman, 81, suffered from pneumonia, critical respiratory distress, sepsis, atrial fibrillation, as well as chronic heart failure.
A total of 36 individuals have recovered out of the 170 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Georgia. As of now 131 individuals remain infected in the country. Head of the Georgian National Centre for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze has again called on everyone to stay home and keep social distancing to avoid further spread of the virus.
The Georgian Interior Ministry has registered 421 new violations of the state of emergency regulations and curfew during the last 24 hours throughout the country.
The Georgian government will identify people who need help as a result of having lost jobs amid the state of emergency in Georgia. The government will determine who has lost the job in this period through the decreased amount of people who pay income taxes, said Vice Prime Minister Maia Tskitishvili earlier today.
Four more individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 in Georgia increasing the total number of cases to 174. As of now, a total of 36 individuals have recovered since February 26, two have died.
The police have fined 5,639 citizens for violating state of emergency regulations as a result of which 17,025,000 GEL ($5,313,007/€4,893,648) has been accumulated since March 31.
Georgia plans to fine citizens for not wearing face masks in public places the amount of which is still subject to discussion as of now.
