The city of Bolnisi and the village of Rachisubani in eastern Georgia have been placed under ‘strict quarantine.’
The decision was made to prevent the risk of spreading the new coronavirus.
At the borders of the city and the village, block posts have been set up by police.
Food and medicines will be transported to the area.
Besides the city of Bolnisi and the village Rachisubani, the villages of Kvemo Bolnisi, Savaneti, Balichi and the small town of Kazreti are under ‘strict quarantine.’
Marneuli and Bolnisi municipalities in eastern Georgia remain under lockdown since March 23. These municipalities have been placed under lockdown after a local, 62-year-old woman tested positive for COVID-19 and came into contact with more than 80 people.
The two municipalities have more than 158,000 people total.

Starting 9 p.m. today the four main cities of Georgia - Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi and Rustavi - will be placed under lockdown, preventing people from leaving or entering the cities for ten days at least. Coronavirus cases stand at 306 in Georgia as of today. 69 of the 306 people have recovered, while three other patients, elderly people with several underlying illnesses, have died.
The village of Khidiskuri in Khashuri municipality has been placed under lockdown to prevent the further spread of the new coronavirus. Residents of the village will be allowed to leave their homes only in case they need to buy food, medicines or they are going to receive medical service. However, no one will be allowed to enter or leave the village.
Lentekhi municipality in the western Georgian region of Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti has been placed under “strict quarantine” after four locals tested positive for the coronavirus. Given the full quarantine, local residents will be able to go out only to buy food or medicines, or receive medical care.
The villages of Khatisopeli, Vanati, Mushevani in eastern Georgia have have been placed on strict lockdown due to an outbreak of the coronavirus. Georgian Interior Ministry announced earlier today that movement in the villages will be banned.
The town of Tetritskaro in Kvemo Kartli has been placed on lockdown after a number of local residents tested positive for coronavirus. Kvemo Kartli governor Shota Rekhviashvili announced today that a total of 19 cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the Tetritskaro municipality, including 12 cases in the town of Tetritskaro.
The number of coronavirus cases stands at 496 in Georgia as of today. 149 people of the 496 have recovered, while six others have died. As of April 27, 339 people remain infected with the virus inside the country. 4,833 people are under quarantine and 571 others are in hospitals.
