Russia’s activities and its occupation of Georgian territories remain major threats to state security, the 2019 report of the Georgian State Security Service reads.

Russia still uses the occupied territories to exercise pressure (on Georgia). It also carried out various cyber operations and media propaganda,” said the report.

The agency says that the major goal of the intelligence services of some foreign states was to interfere in Georgian political, economic, social and other issues.

The report says that the activities of the intelligence services of the foreign states aimed to create tension in the country and affect Georgia’s international image.

Their actions attempted to display Georgia as an unstable, unreliable partner,” said the agency.

The report said that the foreign states attempted to use the ethnic and religious diversity of Georgia and spark tensions.

The report mentioned hybrid threats and the threats coming from ultra-right groups as well.
