Exports of tangerines amounted to 1,658 tonnes from the middle of October to November 20 , announced the Ministry of Agriculture.
We expect to harvest high quality tangerines this year…So the farmers will be able to sell their product in a high price,” said the Minister of Agriculture Levan Davitashvili.
Davitashvili said Belarus is interested in importing Georgian tangerines.
Last year we exported tangerines in new countries such as Poland, in the countries of the Persian Gulf and Central Asia,” said Davitashvili.
He said that in the future Georgia will try to export more tangerines to these new countries which will support the diversification of tangerine exports in the future.
A coordination centre serving farmers and factories opened on October 16, and facilitates the distribution of state subsidiaries to farmers producing tangerines.
The centre will work until February 1, 2020.
