Exports of Georgian tangerines amounted to 21,333 tonnes from the middle of October to December 19 this year, which is 6.2 per cent more compared to the same period of last year, announced the Ministry of Agriculture.
New export destination countries are Lithuania (120.9 tonnes), Slovenia (158.2 tonnes), Qatar (0.4 tonnes) and Singapore (0.1 tonnes).
The market price for tangerines ranges from 0.7 GEL ($0.24/€0.22) to 1.5 GEL ($0.52/€0.47) per kilogram, says the Ministry.
A coordination centre serving farmers and factories opened on October 16, and facilitates the distribution of state subsidiaries to farmers producing tangerines.
The centre will work until February 1, 2020.
