Georgian consulate opens in Sao Paulo, Brazil

A Georgian consulate has opened in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo. 

David Solomonia, the Ambassador of Georgia to Brazil, opened the consulate on October 24. 

With the opening of this institution, a new phase in the bilateral relations between the two countries begins, which will promote the protection of the rights and interests of Georgian citizens and legal entities. It will promote the development of trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation, encouraging tourism and deepening the connection between the two countries”, said David Solomonia.

The consulate office will be headed by the consul of Georgia, Carmen Lucia Portu Ruet.

Diplomatic relations between Georgia and Brazil were established on 28 April 1993. In 2010 the Embassy of Georgia was set up in the Federative Republic of Brazil – a step which was reciprocated by Brazil in 2011.

Georgia and Brazil establish visa-free regime

 The governments of Georgia and Brazil signed an agreement for partial exemption of visa requirements for tourists and business people on the 11th of March, 2015.

Georgian citizens are able to enter Brazilian territory for 90 days within a 180-day period. Corresponding rules are established for the Brazilian population who come to Georgia.
